Today Apple has finally announced the much anticipated iPhone 6 as well as iPhone 6 Plus. As much as we have heard from the rumors past few months, Apple did not disappoint us. The new models have given us the better feature we always hope for.

Bigger Screen

Finally, a bigger screen! No longer the thin gadget that looked like a chocolate bar.

iPhone 6 is set to be 4.7 inch, which is bigger than its predecessor iPhone 5s that only has 4 inch.

Apart from that Apple has introduced a new phase of iPhone catering to phablet fans, iPhone 6 Plus.  iPhone 6 Plus is 5.5 inch in size.

Both models are  also equipped with an upgraded Retina display called, Retina HD. iPhone 6 has a 1334 x 750 display with 326 pixels-per-inch. While iPhone 6 Plus has a better pixel density, offering 1920 x 1080 display with 401 pixels-per-inch.

Feel and Look

iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus now feature a larger body and curved edges. It gave a much more slimmer and thinner feel of it. It somehow looked slightly like their previous venture in iPhone 3GS with a much rounder edge on the side.

Both devices are 6.9 millimetres thin and comes in 3 different colours: gold, silver and space gray.

Another good take for the new models are the feature of glass that curve around edges of phone. But too bad, not the sapphire screen that we always hear from rumors. So, no dropping the phone on the floor.

Power/lock button is now being placed to the right spine, instead of the top edge. Which i feel is a big change on ergonomics for Apple users.

Better Performance
Apple has also touted on its improving performance compared to their previous model. Both models are equipped with a 64-bit A8 processor. Some of the benefits of A8 is that, it has 25% faster CPU performance, 13% smaller and 50% more energy efficient than the previous A7.

It also features a next-gen motion coprocessor called M8. This technology lets you estimate distance and elevation changes with a new barometer. That sounds quite cool for a start.

Battery Life
This is one of my biggest concern for the new model. Apple has claimed that iPhone 6 will have a 50 hours battery life for audio, 11 hours for WiFi, and 10 hours for LTE browsing.

iPhone 6 Plus on the other side, is packed with a much better battery performance. Thanks to its bigger size feature. iPhone 6 Plus can last for 80 hours for audio, 14 hours for video, and 12 hours for browsing via both WiFi and LTE.

Camera and Video

Apple has unveiled a new camera system with 8-megapixel sensor. It is claimed that the models is equipped with 'Focus Pixel' technology, allowing a faster detection of autofocus points. Camera also offers a nex-gen tone mapping and noise reduction.

A good take for iPhone 6 Plus, it has an optical image stabilization system exclusively for the Plus model.

As for video, both models can shoot a 1080p video at 30fps and 60fps along with 240 fps slo-mo videos. It was improved from its predecessor iPhone 5s that only can shoot at 120 fps. You can shoot a single-shot HDR photos and take a HDR video now.

Facetime HD camera has a new sensor with f2.2 aperture which allows 81% more light.

I don't think Apple has made a major improvement on camera, seeing that users are still able to get a better camera technology from other smartphone brands.

Price and Availability
iPhone 6 will be priced at $199 (16 GB), $299 (64 GB) and $399 (128 GB).
As for iPhone 6 Plus, will be priced at $299 (16 GB), $399 (64 GB) and $499 (128 GB).

Both models will launch on 19th September in the first few countries and pre-order starts on 12th September.

So will you be willing to spend extra $100 for a bigger screen? Or to stick to the smaller one for a change?

Probably a dilemma for me to think long on that. Here's a hands on review today by CNET.
